Alexandra Grant studio and the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw are pleased to announce the presentation of A.D.D.G.—a rarely shown video suite by Alexandra Grant.

Originally created in 2008, A.D.D.G. (short for aux dehors des guillemets, or “outside of the quotation marks”) is a suite of five HD video works produced during and after Alexandra Grant’s first solo museum exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) Los Angeles, curated by Alma Ruiz. This marks only the second time the full series has been shown publicly, following its debut at Honor Fraser Gallery in Los Angeles.

The five videos—Let’sLadder to Heavenconspirarnimbus, and babel—each range from 2 to 4 minutes in length and blend text, sound, and moving image. The works are deeply rooted in Alexandra Grant’s collaboration with writer Michael Joyce, a pioneer of hypertext fiction, as well as inspired by Hélène Cixous, the French writer, playwright, and literary critic.

Developed in partnership with Pig Iron Theatre Company and edited by Stephen Reedy, A.D.D.G. is a sonic and visual exploration that repurposes voice recordings, Joyce’s texts, and Grant’s sculptures and paintings into new, poetic forms.

Curator of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum: Dr. Seweryn Kuter
Curator of the display: Maria Kominek-Karolak
